Privacy Policy

ReadHere is built to keep your reading private. Your books and notes never leave your device.

Effective: July 5, 2026

What we collect

ReadHere does not require an account and does not store your books, highlights, notes, or reading progress on any server. All of that data lives in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) on your device.

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site (page views, referrers, general device type). Google Analytics does not receive the contents of your books or any reading data. You can opt out using your browser's privacy settings or a content-blocking extension.

Local storage

When you add a book, ReadHere stores the file, your highlights, notes, reading progress, and preferences in IndexedDB in your browser. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud sync (see below). You can delete it at any time by removing books inside the app or clearing site data in your browser settings.

Cloud sync (Pro)

The Pro tier ($10/yr) lets you sync your library to your own Google Drive. If you connect Google Drive, ReadHere requests only the drive.file scope — it can see and modify only the files it creates, never the rest of your Drive. You can revoke access at any time from your Google account settings.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets a cookie to distinguish visits. No other cookies are used. If you block cookies, the reader works fully — you will just not be counted in analytics.

Third-party services

  • Google Analytics — usage analytics
  • Google Drive — optional cloud sync (Pro)

Each service is governed by its own privacy policy.

Children

ReadHere is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of ReadHere after changes constitutes acceptance.
